Pope St. Leo the Great, Sermon 9, 444: âWho then would not tremble at this doom of eternal torment? Who would not dread evils which are never to be ended?â
Doctrine
St. Cyprian (252): âAn ever-burning Gehenna and the punishment of being devoured by living flames will consume the condemned; nor will there be any way in which the tormented can ever have respite or the torments end⌠weeping will be useless, and prayer ineffectual.â
