wmtw.com BANGOR, Maine —Bangor police say a woman hit a bobcat just after midnight Wednesday, but mistook it for a cat and put it in her vehicle. Police said the woman, who is not being identified, told an officer she was driving from Veazie towards Bangor when she hit the animal. The woman thought the "cat" was seriously injured or dead and she put it inside her van. Police said the woman told them the animal became alert while driving and realized it was actually a bobcat. The woman said she pulled over on Harlow Street in Bangor, got out of her van and the bobcat followed, which hid under the vehicle. Police captured the bobcat using a catch pole, and Maine Game Wardens took the animal. Police said the bobcat was later euthanized due to its injuries.
