Woman charged after toy taken from child's grave according to police

wkyc.com ONTARIO, Ohio -- A woman has been charged with stealing from a baby's grave in Mansfield Memorial Park. Fifty-four-year-old Frieda Kay Shade turned herself in Wednesday night to police after the video of her at the cemetery went viral. Ontario police detective Jon Sigler said the video on their Facebook page reached more than 2 million users in 48 hours. With thousands of comments, many people started naming Shade as the woman in that video, seen stealing from Hayden "Tank" Cole Sheridan's grave. Now Hayden's mom wants answers. "I mainly want to know why," Jaclyn Sheridan said. "What gave you the right to think it was OK to do it? What made you do it? Why my son?" Sheridan's son died when he was just 14 months old, one of a set of triplets, but his brother and sister live on. Now the family often visits Hayden's grave but so did a thief. For the past five years, items have been stolen almost every time his mom decorates the grave for the holidays. This time the surveillance camera Ontario police set up caught the thief stealing a stuffed duck over Easter weekend, and it was crystal clear. "I'm glad we got her," Sheridan said. "I think the only reason she turned herself in is because it was everywhere. I think there's no more hiding from it. I think if she could have, she would have kept hiding from it." Shade told police she saw a dog running through the cemetery, so she took the duck to prevent it from getting destroyed, but not many people are buying that story. "My son has been there seven years, and I've never seen a stray dog there," Sheridan said. "She knew what she was doing when she took it."
