"Traditional Latin Mass in New Jersey ‘paused until further notice’"

"A Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) in Hackensack, New Jersey, has been 'paused until further notice' by the orders of Cardinal Joseph Tobin.

Father Thomas Quinn, the pastor of Holy Trinity Church, announced the development in the parish bulletin this past Sunday, the Society of St. Hugh of Cluny reported on Wednesday.

'On the theme of the Sacred Liturgy, this year we were happy to begin offering the Traditional Latin Mass on Sundays at 12:30, adding to the richness of the many charisms of our parish. Our whole community has benefited, welcoming new members and deepening our liturgical life,' said Quinn.

'As the Archdiocese reviews how and where the traditional Mass is celebrated, Cardinal Tobin has asked me to meet with him regarding the future of the Mass here at Holy Trinity. Until that time, he has asked that the 12:30 Mass be paused until further notice. Thank you for your continued support in this intervening time.'...

It was reported earlier this month that the Vatican denied Bishop Athanasisus Schneider permission to offer a traditional Latin Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica during this year’s Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage...

Since the promulgation of Traditionis Custodes, numerous bishops worldwide have cracked down on the celebration of the Latin Mass to varying degrees.

The Society of St. Hugh of Cluny recently reported that a TLM in Danbury, Connecticut, will end on Sunday, September 27. The Mass was offered after Traditionis Custodes in the chapel of Immaculate High School and is 'the heir to two traditional Masses that had formerly been celebrated at parishes in the vicinity.'

Last year, Bishop Michael Martin, OFM, of Charlotte, North Carolina, suppressed the TLM at all four diocesan parishes and merged them into one small chapel that was not meant to hold all the faithful who wish to attend. Martin even banned the use of altar rails and kneelers for receiving Holy Communion.

Bishop Mark Beckman of Knoxville, Tennessee, similarly ordered all three parishes that had offered the Mass celebrated according to the 1962 missal to transition to Masses celebrated in Latin according to the 2002 Roman Missal. The bishop has allowed a Latin Mass to be celebrated once a month at a small retreat center."
