Teenage couple ran into path of oncoming train because they feared being split up
Aidan Radnedge metro.co.uk A teenage couple held hands and ran into the path of a train because they felt cultural differences meant they could never be together, an inquest heard yesterday. Charleigh Disbery, 15, and Turkish boyfriend Mert Karaoglan, 18, died after they were hit by an empty First Capital Connect train. In a statement, the driver said he ‘did everything he could to slow the train but to no avail’.
