A Special Counsel To Investigate The Special Counsel?

In an interview Monday evening, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly agreed there may be a need to appoint a second special counsel to investigate the Clinton connections to the Fusion GPS dossier, corruption surrounding the Uranium One purchase by a Russian company, and potentially the actions of Special Counsel Robert Mueller during his tenure as FBI director.

FOX News host Laura Ingraham asked if there was “any sense that Bob Mueller, heading the FBI at a time when this is being approved, the uranium one and that he should recuse himself from any such investigation.” Kelly said he thought the special counsel was already busy with what he’s already investigating regarding the “Russia Narrative,” and acknowledged there probably should be a second special counsel appointed.

"Again, I’m not a lawyer, one of the strengths I have in looking at issues in my job, I think probably as a layman looking at this kind of thing we need to find someone who is very, very objective who can get to the bottom of these accusations. I think it’s important," he said. "Again, the American people have an absolute right to know these things unless things are classified. This administration certainly, you saw Mr. Trump do this the other day, when he demanded that the JFK documents be released in their entirety was very, very few redactions. But nothing held back. And that’s where he is on this. And certainly that’s where I am."

Ingraham asked if the president would like to get these matters wrapped up quickly. Kelly said it would appear investigators are running out of witnesses, and said he doesn’t know how that investigation can continue much longer without providing a shred of evidence of actual “Russian collusion.” He admitted the investigations have been “very distracting to the president.”
