San Francisco "gay" rights advocate sentenced for child porn
Vivian Ho sfgate.com SAN FRANCISCO -- Veteran gay rights advocate and former San Francisco Human Rights Commission staff member Larry Brinkin was sentenced to one year in county jail Wednesday for possessing child pornography. As part of a plea agreement, Brinkin, 67, will serve six months of his sentence in county jail and six months in home detention, the district attorney's office said. He will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Brinkin, who worked as a senior contract compliance officer with the rights commission until his 2010 retirement, was arrested in June 2012 after e-mail attachments were found on his AOL subscriber's account that contained images of toddlers engaged in sex acts with men. He pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography in January. Prosecutors originally charged him with six felony counts of possessing and distributing child pornography, but they dropped all but one felony count of possession as part of the plea bargain. to read more: sfgate.com
