Rep. Charles Rangel spends chunk of campaign cash to fight congressional censure

Charles Rangel has spent about a third of his 2014 campaign cash on legal bills — shelling out a six-figure sum in a failed bid to overturn his fall from congressional grace. The Lion of Harlem burned through $117,000 of the $323,543 raised in the 10-month period ending Sept. 30, federal records showed, paying lawyers’ fees and giving money to the Charles B. Rangel Legal Expense Trust. Rangel is in the midst of a court battle to salvage his reputation on Capitol Hill.
