"Raleigh Diocese breaks ground on $41M cathedral"
wlos.com The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is breaking ground on a cathedral that will seat about 2,000 people, almost seven times what the current building can seat. The ground-breaking for the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral was Saturday at the new site, located between Western Boulevard and Centennial Parkway in Raleigh. The cathedral will be located on about 39 acres that used to house diocese offices and Cardinal Gibbons High School. Bishop Michael Burbidge and other church leaders wore vestments and hard hats for the ceremony. Burbidge says the $41 million project will take about two years to complete.
