Police say an armed, intoxicated man hit 155 mph
Diane Turbyfill gastongazette.com An armed, intoxicated man attempted to avoid arrest by driving over 150 mph on I-85 Friday night, according to arrest warrants. A highway patrolman suspected that a man driving a motorcycle around 10:15 p.m. was impaired, Trooper R.B. Huffstickler wrote in the warrant. In an attempt to elude the trooper, Brian Keith McCrary speeded up to 155 mph with a woman on the back of the motorcycle, according to the report. McCrary ultimately stopped in Belmont. He was taken to Gaston County Jail and given a breath test. The 23-year-old blew a .08 and was charged with DWI, warrants state. McCrary was also charged with failing to heed lights or sirens, felony fleeing arrest, speeding, reckless driving and carrying a concealed weapon. The Lincolnton man was held on a $10,000 secured bond.
