"NYC taxpayers foot $265,000 bill for transgender bathroom ad campaign"
lifesitenews.com
In honor of "LGBTQ Pride Month," Mayor Bill DeBlasio is running an ad campaign encouraging New Yorkers to use the bathroom and intimate facilities of whatever gender they choose, "no questions asked."
The ads, themed "Look Past Pink and Blue," feature men dressed as women, and women dressed as men, under the banner, "Use the restroom consistent with who you are."
The transgender campaign is being charged to New York taxpayers, to the tune of over a quarter of a million dollars. It is reportedly the first time any government has used tax dollars to take out ads for transgender bathroom use.
Posters are going up across the city, in subways, bus stops, and phone booths. Ads are being placed on local television, posted on social media, and newspapers. The ads are being translated into Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian, and Bengali for New York's ethnic communities.
DeBlasio says his ads help transgenders be "who they are." His wife, Chirlane McCray, says the transgender law lets people use the facilities "where they feel comfortable.”
The mayor's transgender promotion also tells New Yorkers to report to the government any perceived "discrimination based on gender identity and expression."
DeBlasio has adopted an official policy defining gender as male, female, or "something else entirely."
The NYC Commission on Human Rights dictum states, “Gender is defined as one’s actual or perceived sex, whether or not that gender identity, self-image, appearance, behavior or expression is different from that traditionally associated with the legal sex assigned to that person at birth."
Last year, the New York City Human Rights Commission released a list of 31 different genders employers must use the proscribed terms for, or face huge fines. An example would be to call a transgender male "he" or "him," instead of the now-politically-correct "ze" or "hir" (pronounced, "here"). The fines go as high as $250,000 for using a person's real gender pronoun “maliciously.”
It is illegal in New York City to restrict women's bathrooms to only women. It is also illegal for any business, such as a restaurant, to have different uniforms for men and women. If a company allows women to wear wigs, makeup, skirts, and jewelry, it must allow men also. For example, if restaurant waitresses wear skirts and heels as part of their uniform, the business must require male waiters to wear skirts and heels.
And not only dress codes and bathrooms are regulated by the new transgender laws, but conversations as well: any conversation about a person's non-conformity to gender norms is illegal, and finable, in the Big Apple.
DeBlasio recently named his wife the Honorary Chair of the Commission on Gender Equality.
