NYC Spends Over $200K For Grade School Drag Queen Story Hour
As efforts to groom and sexualize young children ramp up across the U.S., reports show that since 2018, New York City has spent over $200k on bringing drag queens into public schools to indoctrinate children as young as 3-years-old.
According to the New York Post, the nonprofit, Drag Story Hour NYC has received $50,000 from New York State’s Council on the Arts and $157,000 from different facets of the city’s local government, including the Departments of Education and Youth and Community Development.
Drag Story Hour NYC intentionally targets children with their message that gender is fluid and gender dysphoria should be embraced.
“Drag Story Hour NYC (formerly Drag Queen Story Hour NYC) produces storytelling and creative arts programs for children and teens, presented by local drag artists, in libraries, schools, and other community spaces in all five boroughs of New York City, and virtually,” the nonprofit’s website reads. “Through fun and fabulous educational experiences, our programs celebrate gender diversity and all forms of difference to build empathy and give kids the confidence to express themselves however they feel comfortable.”
On their website, the nonprofit also boasted about organizing 49 programs in 34 public schools across the city.
While some of the schools subjecting children to these performances boast to parents about the events, others leave parents in the dark about what their children are learning in school.
“I didn’t get any notice,” Reese Harrington, a parent at a New York City Public school told the New York Post. “My daughter actually came home and told me that a drag queen came to the school … I feel like it would have been better for that conversation to happen at home.”...
Additionally, City Council member Vicki Paladino (R-Queens) said, “I am considering pulling funding to any school in my district that is implementing Drag Queen Story Hour. We are taking hundreds of thousands of dollars out of the pockets of hardworking New York taxpayers … to fund a program teaching little children about their gender fluidity? Not. On. My. Watch.”
Responding to the backlash, New York City officials claim that these events are essential for the young children’s safety and education.
