Non-Catholic Scholars Who Admit Peter Had A Primacy
What follows are quotes from prominent non-Catholic writers, speakers and scholars who, although they don't accept the Papacy, admit that Peter was clearly the leader of the Apostles and/or that he had a primacy of some form. Of course, it is foolish and heretical for them to deny Catholic teaching on the Papacy; for if Peter was the leader of the Apostles based on passages such as Mt. 16:18-19 and John 21:15-17 (which clearly deal with the conferral of authority), then obviously Jesus intended to establish an authoritative position that would continue after Peter's death. Nevertheless, such admissions show that St. Peter's primacy is obvious in the New Testament, and they should point people to the truth of the Papacy. This file will be updated as time permits.
