Man Arrested For Performing "Exorcism"

news.sky.com A 54-year-old man has been arrested for imprisoning and trying to perform an exorcism on his 80-year-old girlfriend. David Benes held his partner down "to get the devil out of her" at their home in Tampa, Florida, allegedly leaving her with bruises and scratches on her arms. He refused to let her leave the house and removed batteries from the home's phones so she could not raise the alarm, it is claimed. He also took her car keys and "dismantled" the garage door to stop it opening, according to a complaint affidavit filed at Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. The elderly woman told officers she awoke the next morning to find Benes "exorcising" her again. She called 911 and police arrived to find Benes, who was "too intoxicated to talk", passed out on a couch. Benes, who is being held in custody, said he was too drunk to remembered what happened. He claimed to have been "beat up" on the back and shoulders by the pensioner. Benes has been charged with battery on a person over 65 years old, false imprisonment, and threatening a witness.
