Dating program contestant confesses to killing two women
Ed Mazza huffingtonpost.com Check out this dating program out of Turkey, in which one of the contestants confessed to killing two women. "I'm an honest person looking for a new wife," 62-year-old Sefer Calinak said on Flash TV's "Luck of the Draw," according to Reuters. Wearing a name tag that said "SEFER" surrounded by little hearts, Calinak calmly described the two killings that sent him to prison twice, to the disbelief of the host and other contestants. His first wife was a cousin. They eloped at 17, but eventually she "irritated" him. "The nephew of the man who wanted to marry her started to come to our village," Calinak said, according to Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News. I was jealous and I killed her, in a way.” He was given a 13-year, 9-month jail sentence, but was released after just 4 1/2 years. He married again, had two kids and separated, presumably without bloodshed. But after that, Calinak said he had an affair with a married woman named Coquette who promised to leave her husband for him. But she didn't. The two argued and Calinak went behind a door with an axe to defend himself, USA Today reports. “I killed her after she attempted to kill me," he said. "She was accidentally killed when I swung the axe." Eventually the host asked him to leave. One of the show's producers told the Turkish paper Milliyet that they were aware of one murder before the show, but allowed him to participate anyway since he had served his time.
