Court Rules: California Must Allow Citizens To Carry Firearms In Public

Yehuda Remer truthrevolt.org In a groundbreaking decision, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco struck down the core of California’s permit system for handguns. In a 2-1 decision, the justices said that San Diego County violated the Constitution's 2ndAmendment by having residents prove the need for a concealed permit is “good cause” rather than the desire for self-protection. The state law requires that anyone interested in obtaining a concealed carry permit must show good cause and good moral character.  It is up to each city and county to determine if the reasons are worthwhile. Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain who was in the majority opinion said that:

"The right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable firearm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense."
