Cops: Man demands $1,200 ransom after finding dog
wlsam.com A north suburban man looking to make a quick buck attempted to try to get ransom for a dog he found from the animal’s owner, Pioneer Press is reporting. Joseph Jando, 27, of Morton Grove, was charged Dec. 13 with intimidation and a parole violation after he allegedly contacted the owners listed on a stray dog’s tag and demanded $1,200 in exchange for the animal’s safe return. The family called police when Jando allegedly threatened to kill the dog. A Morton Grove detective then impersonated the owner and arrived at the rendezvous place to make the exchange. Police say Jando was apprehended in the 7300 block of Davis Street after again demanding money and threatening the dog’s safety. to read more: wlsam.com
