telegraph.co.uk A commuter in the Australian state of Queensland narrowly escaped being hurt after crossing into the path of a train at a suburban Brisbane railway station, local media reported.
The incident was captured by CCTV and shows the 20-year-old man darting across tracks to avoid being hit by an oncoming train. The man ignored a barrier and warning bells and ran across the tracks as an express train was driving through Cannon Hill railway station.
The Queensland state Transport Minister, Scott Emerson, said that people are gambling with their lives when they take such chances.
"The message has to get out there that people are playing Russian roulette with their lives and they will lose. That is the reality," Emerson said.
The female train driver was reportedly traumatised by the incident and had to take leave from work, according to local media. The man was taken to hospital but escaped serious injury.
