California "pastor" arrested in plot to firebomb ex-girlfriend's house still leading "church"
JOEL LANDAU nydailynews.com "A California pastor has been charged with hiring three people to firebomb an ex-girlfriend's family — but the clergyman who continues to serve at his church, he calls the allegations untrue and bizarre. Mark Lewis, 39, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church, was arrested after a Molotov cocktail was thrown into his ex-girlfriend Sarah Nottingham's home at 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Vacaville police say Lewis and three co-conspirators were trying to burn down the building with six people — including three children — sleeping inside. No one was injured, and damage was minor after residents extinguished the blaze, police said. But Nottingham says this is just another example of harassment from her ex-boyfriend she dumped last year. Police say she has filed a restraining order against Lewis and has been the victim of four incidents of vandalism - including her bushes being set on fire. She told police she believes Lewis is responsible for these acts. 'I'm living in a nightmare. My kids are so scared. My son knows that this is his previous pastor that is threatening his mommy and his family,' she told TV Station CBS13 in Sacramento. 'That's the sickest part about it, is that this man claims to be a man of God.' Lewis posted bail in time for him to lead services Sunday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Vacaville Calif. He calls the accusations against him 'bizarre.' Nottingham did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday afternoon. Police charged Lewis with arson on an inhabited dwelling, conspiracy and stalking. They said evidence was found at his home at the church connecting him to the attempted firebombing. They also found an illegal handgun and suspected methamphetamine, police said." to read more: nydailynews.com
