Burglars jailed after posing with stolen cars in Facebook pictures
Two criminals who posted photos of themselves with stolen property on Facebook have been jailed. Police used the photos of Jonathan Dougan, 26, and Matthew Murphy, 23, as evidence, which eventually led to them being incarcerated for nine years and four months each. ‘This pair may be a few sandwiches short of a picnic but they will have plenty of time to reflect on their stupidity,’ a police source told the Daily Mail. The men posted nearly 50 photos of themselves posing with several stolen items, including cars, motorbikes and champagne. They had gone on an eight month crime spree in November 2012 that saw them complete 15 burglaries. One of the most expensive items they stole was a £30,000 Mercedes E820. Mr Dougan and Mr Murphy were both on parole, after being jailed for several armed robberies in 2008, when they committed their latest crimes. They both pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal at Manchester crown court.
