Axe-throwing expert chases burglars out of her house

metro.co.uk Two surprised burglars were forced to flee after breaking and entering into the house of an axe-throwing expert. They probably thought they were on to a sure thing after making their way into the house of Robin Irvine, but were shocked to discover she kept a deadly tomahawk axe by her bedside. Ms Irvine chased the intruders out of the house on the night of November 2 after being woken when one of them tried to take a watch off her wrist. After getting out of bed and ‘screaming at the top of her lungs’ she armed herself with the weapon, but restrained herself from throwing it as the burglars fled. ‘I could’ve thrown it,’ she explained to NBC Los Angeles. ‘I could’ve put it right in his spine. It would have paralysed him.’ Ms Irvine said she learned to throw the axe in the mountains above her home in Hemet, southern California, when she was growing up and also took part in axe-throwing competitions. She said of her weapon: ‘I’ve had this one for years. It’s old, but it’s perfectly balanced.’ The local police department later found one of the trespassers, Nicholas Ulloa, hiding in a bush with bags of items taken from Ms Irvine’s house.
