"Advertiser drops ‘The Ingraham Angle’ after latest David Hogg boycott"
theblaze.com
"A major advertiser has dropped its spot on 'The Ingraham Angle' following Parkland, Florida, student David Hogg’s call for a boycott over the namesake host’s show, according to a Thursday Politico report.
Hogg called for a boycott of Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s show after Ingraham on Monday compared detention camps in South Texas to 'summer camps' while talking about separating families and children along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Later during the segment, however, Ingraham clarified her comments regarding 'summer camps' and noted that she was pointing to an article in The San Diego Union Tribune.
In a monologue, Ingraham said:
Apparently there are a lot of people very upset because we referred to some of the detention facilities tonight as essentially like summer camps. The San Diego Union Tribune today described the facilities as essentially like what you would expect at a boarding school. So I will stick to there are some of them like boarding schools. And I suggest that a lot of the folks who are worried about that spend more time in Central America. I have. And we should make adoption easier for American couples who want to adopt these kids who are true candidates for adoption because our policies don’t allow that. So let’s put our hearts out there for the kids in the right way. Take care of them the right way. Open your hearts and your homes to them.
In response to her comments, 18-year-old Hogg took to Twitter to call on advertisers to boycott her show.
On Twitter, Hogg wrote, 'If we get these advertisers pulled maybe @Ingraham will have to become a camp counselor and learn how wrong she is.'
Hogg went on to list seven advertisers who had spots on the Fox show...
Fox News responded to Hogg’s rallying cry for a second boycott.
Fox News said:
Laura Ingraham’s very personal, on-the-ground commitment to the plight of impoverished and abandoned children — specifically in Guatemala — speaks for itself. So too does her strong belief in a commonsense, legal immigration system, which will continue to be a focus of her show. Fox News will never tolerate or give in to attempts to silence diverse viewpoints by agenda-driven intimidation efforts...
According to a Politico report Thursday, American holding company IAC — which owns the likes of Angie’s List, Home Advisor, and others — announced that it will not run spots for Angie’s List or Home Advisor on 'The Ingraham Angle' in response to the host’s 'summer camp' comment...
According to the report, IAC CEO Joey Levin appeared on CNBC on Wednesday and seemed to indicate that the company would sever its ties with the Fox News program...
A spokesperson for Fox News told Politico, 'There’s been no impact on our business, and new advertisers continue to opt in for our powerful prime-time lineup.'
According to a May 29 report by TheWrap, Ingraham’s ratings were up at least 16 percent according to Nielsen Media Research despite Hogg’s first boycott.
Since the first Hogg-led boycott, Ingraham netted an average of 2.656 million viewers nightly."
