Iran won't have access to U.S. dollars as sanctions lift, official says

WASHINGTON — Iran will not have access to U.S. financial markets as it is freed from economic sanctions under the nuclear deal reached last year, a top State Department official told Congress on Tuesday.
“The rumors and the news that has appeared in the press that the U.S. is preparing to ... allow Iran access to the U.S. financial system are not true,” Thomas Shannon Jr., the department's undersecretary for political affairs, told members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
