Biggest day of action looms as "Tesla Takedown" protesters escalate campaign against Elon Musk
The battle against the tech billionaire, Elon Musk, is reaching a new high. Protesters worldwide are preparing for their largest demonstration yet, 500 coordinated actions at Tesla showrooms on March 29 aimed at CEO Elon Musk's controversial policies.
The "Tesla Takedown" movement is gaining traction as Musk faces increasing criticism for his policies and influence in the United States government.
With growing opposition, activists hope to force Elon Musk out by lowering Tesla's market value.
During a mobilizing call on Wednesday, organizers announced that Tesla protesters are organizing their "biggest day of action" to date, with 500 demonstrations at Tesla showrooms worldwide planned for March 29, as per a report by The Verge.
As more people have turned out to protest CEO Elon Musk's dismantling of the federal government, the protests, which began at a few Tesla locations in early February, have expanded to hundreds of locations worldwide.
The so-called Tesla Takedown protesters, who were chanting slogans and waving signs, have turned into a focal point for opposition to Musk's actions as the head of DOGE, which include firing tens of thousands of government employees and ending federal aid programs.
While unrelated to the protests, there has also been an increase in violence, vandalism, and arson against Tesla showrooms, which Elon Musk and President Donald Trump have called "domestic terrorism."
Actors, filmmakers, Congressmen, federal employees, academics, and journalists participated in the hour-long call, which attempted to avoid President Trump's reference to "terrorism" in favour of Musk and the attempt to devalue the company's stock.
The company's value has decreased from $1.08 trillion earlier this year to $739 billion today.
Since the start of the year, Tesla's stock has lost almost 40% of its value due to a combination of declining sales and increased competition both domestically and internationally, which has fueled growing scepticism about the company's prospects.
