Escaped Prisoner Who Hit Cop As He Fled in Stolen Police Cruiser Captured in Manhattan: NYPD
Ida Siegal nbcnewyork.com The drug suspect who allegedly took off in a stolen police vehicle and hit an officer as he fled in Queens Monday has been apprehended in Manhattan, police say. It's not clear how 38-year-old Bryan McMenamin was located. He was taken into custody in the 3 p.m. hour. Police say narcotics officers had arrested McMenamin and another man who allegedly bought drugs from him in Glendale Monday evening, then placed them in the back of a police vehicle. The suspects were being transported when the officers made a car stop at 59th Street and Cooper Avenue, officials said. McMenamin seized the opportunity to hop in front of the cruiser and take off, according to officials. He had been handcuffed with his hands behind his back, but somehow managed to get his hands to the front and drive away.
