A 61-year-old woman shot one of two burglars who broke into her Terrell home in the middle of the night.
The woman, whom KTVT-TV (Channel 11) identified only as Sharon as a safety precaution, said she woke up when she heard a noise that she thought was her cat but soon could make out men’s voices.
“I called out, ‘What are are you doing in my home,’” she told KTVT on Monday.
She said she then grabbed her gun and fired at a man police have identified as Saul Guzman, 21, until she had no more bullets. The other man, identified as Pedro Guzman, 21, ran down the hall, attacked the woman and stole her gun, according to police.
“He must of heard me clicking it because that’s when he came back and beat me up really bad,” she told KTVT. She said suffered a concussion as well as cuts and bruises on her face.
Police said they located Saul Guzman shortly after the break-in at the Texas Regional Medical Center at Sunnyvale, where he was being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the stomach. Pedro Guzman was located at the gas station across the street from the hospital.
Police also found a purse that had been stolen in another burglary in a trash can at the gas station, Terrell Police Captain A.D. Sansom said.
